2016 2nd Monthly Tutorial

The 2nd Monthly Tutorial was held on March 15th at Komaba Campus at the University of Tokyo. In total, 67 students and 10 high school students participated the tutorial.

First, we had Yusuke Muraki from JAXA lecture on “Satellite Utilization Program for Developing Countries in Asia.”  Reflecting back on his experience in joining the project of the Asian Development Bank, he emphasized (1) Seeds, (2) Needs, (3) Funding, (4) Players, and (5) Mechanisms were important aspects of systems. He also mentioned the importance of interdisciplinary study, expanding networks, communications and system optimization.

Next, Associate Professor Kohtake of Keio University held a lecture on System Design Management. Presenting car navigation system as an example, the stakeholders were extracted and the flow of service, products and moneys were depicted using Customer Value Chain Analysis.

There are 11 student projects carried out this year. Team leaders presented a one-minute elevator pitch to recruit new participants. Students shared the project overview in world café style workshops.

Towards the 3rd monthly tutorial, participants will form teams and make drafts of the project plan.
