Web-GIS is a mapping system on a web browser which enables display of GIS Information, interactive operation and information sharing. We were using “GeoServer” as an open source GIS but transferred operation to “GitHub” platform to further enhance communication and innovation.

Content :

All data is stored in the repository of GESTISS organization, GitHub. No account is needed for viewing the data but an account is required for copying the data/Web-GIS browser. If necessary, please make the GitHub account and Fork accordingly.

There are mainly 3 ways to use GitHub. The opportunities are infinite. If you have found a new way to use GitHub, please share it on the “Issue” of WebGIS4G-SPASE repository.

2D Simple Web Map

Data is stored in repository in GeoJSON/TopoJSON format. In GitHub, it automatically transfers to Web Map. OpenStreetMap is used for background.

2D Web Map

One can customize the Web Map System by adding data to the layer. Fork the gsimaps4gestiss repository which data is based on GSImaps. Any map data can be used for background.

3D Web Map

One can customize the Web Map System by adding data to the layer. Fork the cesiumGitHubPages4gestiss repository which data is based on cesiumGitHubPages. CesiumJS is an open-source JavaScript library for world-class 3D globes and maps which enables Google Earth-like visualization.

Data Format :

In using vector data, please store data in GeoJSON or TopoJSON format which spatial reference is defined by EPSG:4326. In using raster data, please store data in JPG or PNG format which spatial reference is defined by the XYZ style of EPSG:900913 .
